UPCYCLING IS THE NEW RECYCLING

Upcycling is an emerging practice that adds value to used products or objects by giving them a new, more qualitative life.

It is one of the strong trends in the circular economy.

The idea is to make new out of old; in concrete terms this means recovering materials or products that are no longer used to create higher quality products. The difference with traditional recycling is that the object or product is not destroyed to reuse the raw material but is used to create something new that can have a similar or completely different use. The challenges of upcycling are firstly the positive impact on the environment, as the principle is to reuse, this avoiding the creation of a new product, saving energy and raw material. The second benefit is not to throw away, this avoiding waste and reducing the production of waste. And finally, it favours the creation of unique products or series due to the origin and quantity of raw materials. An opportunity to have products original, customise and ecological.
